Mai Chau Valley - Mountainous Life

Day 1:  Mai Chau Valley — Lac Village; Thai and Muong Ethnics

Pick up at the hotel for departure to Mai Chau located in Hoa Binh Province, approximately 135 km from Ha Noi. Passing Cum Slope over 12 km through Cao Phong District is Mai Chau Valley. From the top of Cun Mountain, one can admire the superb panoramic view of Mai Chau surrounded by green valley and stilt houses. Mai Chau is the home of many minorities, including the White Thai Ethnic group. Enjoy a traditional lunch and if you are game, have a taste of the country’s finest rice wine with a local family. Afterward, we will take a bicycling trip around the village to see farmers working in the fields and the locals weaving scarves. We will also visit the surrounding tranquil villages to experience the rustic life of these mountainous people.

Dinner at a local family and enjoy a drink of traditional alcohol known as “Ruou can” and unique artistic performances of ethnic Thai, Muong, residing in the mountains of Mai Chau. Overnight in stilt houses in Ban Lac. (LD)

 

Day 2:  Poom Cong Village — Trieu Cave — Ha Noi

The early morning is the most peaceful time to walk around the village and see the sun rising over the beautiful mountains. Following breakfast at Lac Village, walk about 7 km to Poom Cong Village, Trieu Cave. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Valley of Mai Chau. Have lunch and relax before heading back to Ha Noi. (BL)
