Margarita Island, the Pearl of the Caribbean, is the biggest Venezuelan island and is located only 40km from the mainland. It attracts many visitors for its South American way of life, beautiful beaches and a broad range of excursions, entertainment and shopping venues.
During this tour you will visit the highlights of Margarita Island, while your guide brings to life its history, customs and legends.
Departing from your hotel in air-conditioned buses, you will visit Fort La Galera which offers a fantastic view of the city of Juan Griego and its fishing harbor. The journey continues aboard your bus to El Valle del Espiritu Santo, the religious capital, and site of the Sanctuary of the Virgin of El Valle, patroness of eastern Venezuela.
Next, you will visit Porlamar, the biggest city on the island, also known as the commercial capital, where you will stop at a local restaurant for lunch (not included) You will also visit an impressive garden and marvel at the variety of plants and flowers while enjoying fresh tropical fruits. Your next stop is La Asuncion, capital of the state, a quaint city rich in colonial architecture.
You will visit the 17th century Castillo Santa Rosa that rises above La Asuncion and offers a breathtaking view of the valley in which it lies. Your last stop will give you a chance to buy handicrafts, rum, coffee and the largest selection of pearls, symbol of Margarita Island.
