Sonoran Desert Tomcar Tour

Hit the Sonoran Desert in a Tomcar, a new high-performance all-terrain vehicle! These military-style off-road Tomcars are similar to dune buggies or rally cars, but built for comfort as well as fun for the whole family! The tour departs from New River, Arizona approximately 30 miles north of Phoenix. On this half-day tour, you'll discover why the only way to tour the Sonoran Desert off-road is by Tomcar.

Self-pilot your comfortable and automatic all terrain Tomcar as you follow your guide through various off-road trails in the Sonoran Desert. Along the way you'll learn about the plant and animal life that inhabit this unique landscape.

On your off-roading adventure (3- to 3.5-hours) you’ll drive through the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and explore explore abandoned mines and Native American ruins. See the Sonoran Desert up-close and perhaps glimpse javalinas, desert mule deer, coyotes, rattlesnakes and more. Of course, you'll also experience fun driving challenges including descents, ascents and river crossings.

Add a firearms adventure to your tour!
Gain real skills during live fire exercises with semi-automatic M16s and Glock 9mm handguns. With training provided by an NRA-certified rifle and pistol instructor, you'll fire 30 rounds from each firearm in various protocols as called out by the instructor. Upon completion of the course you'll have practical knowledge of the importance of gun safety. This course is fun for both beginners and aficionados.

Please note: If you select the tour with firearm experience, you will have a 1- to 1.5-hour break in between experiences. You will need to drive yourself to the firearms location (provided on your prepaid voucher). Your guide will provide you with local directions and check-in time upon completion of the Tomcar tour.
