Snowmobile Tour From Anchorage

Zip through the wilderness and skim over snowy backcountry in Alaska on a glacier snowmobiling tour from Anchorage. Spend a winter day basking in the brisk midday sun while getting your adrenaline pumping winding through open fields and past the beaver ponds and frozen waterfalls of the Chugach Mountains. If the conditions are right, you can even drive out to the glacier to see the blue ice of its icebergs and caves. Round-trip transportation from Anchorage, winter gear, and water and snacks are included.

Dressed in warm winter layers and with your own sack lunch in tow (recommended), you'll be transported from your Anchorage hotel to the Chugach Mountains. On the way, help yourself to the van's glacier water and snacks to make sure you have plenty of energy for the day. Once arriving, riders over 16 receive their own machine and winter gear. After a brief orientation, hop on to your snowmobile and explore the Alaskan outdoors! You may even pass for a local, since many enjoy spending the day cruising through the wilderness on their own snowmobiles—an activity they refer to as snowmachining.

Professional guides will lead you through the third largest state park in America, where a half-million acres (202 hectares) play home to moose, eagles, glacier-fed rivers, alpine lakes and unrivaled mountain vistas. During your 3.5-hours of riding time, shoot past beaver ponds, bask in the bright midday sun while traversing open fields, and zip past frozen waterfalls.

If the weather and conditions cooperate, your guides may even take you out to a glacier, where you can catch glimpses of icebergs and caves. Many locals refer to it as “Blue Ice Paradise” due to the area’s unique aquamarine hue.

After working up an appetite exploring Alaskan backcountry, hop off the snowmobile, shed your winter layers and refuel with complimentary glacier water, hot Russian tea and granola bars. Provided transportation, which also includes light snacks, will transport you back to your Anchorage hotel.
