Oahu Whale-Watching Excursion

From late December through early May, thousands of humpback whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii. Catch a glimpse of the magnificent mammals on a whale-watching excursion from Waikiki. Venture out on the water with a small group of people to witness the humpback whales breach, play or feed around you. Your guide guarantees sightings, and in the rare event that you don’t see any supersize stars, you get to do the 2-hour tour again for free!

Depart from your Waikiki or Ko Olina hotel for a short ride to Kewalo Basin Harbor (Waikiki departure) or Waianae Harbor (Ko Olina departure). You can bring your own food along on this 2-hour excursion, or enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages. At the harbor, you board a catamaran or monohull for an adventure out to see humpback whales splash around in the bath-temperature waters.

The humpbacks, or kohola, arrive in Hawaii by late December after spending several colder months in Alaska. Learn more about whale migration and other facts as your guide takes you along the Oahu coastline for what’s likely to be a mighty show.

At any moment, you could see a whale perform a dramatic breach, communicate with the slap of the tail, or blow water from its spout. In the unlikely event that you don’t spot any whales on your trip, you get to choose another day for this whale-watching outing that is free of charge.

After two hours on the water, return to the harbor for round-trip transport back to your hotel.
