Mt Hood Railroad: Round-Trip Journey from Hood River to Mt Hood

Experience Oregon's beautiful scenery on this relaxing train journey along the historic Mt Hood Railroad. From Hood River, travel through the Columbia River Gorge and magnificent Cascade Range toward Mt Hood, Oregon's highest point, admiring views of woods, orchards and vineyards along the way. At Parkdale, where the railroad ends, explore the Hutson Museum, located on a National Historic Site with great panoramic views of Mt Hood. You have a choice of seating sections, and snacks and drinks are available for purchase on board.

Your train departs at 10am from Hood River Station in Hood River, a port on the Columbia River approximately 60 miles (96 km) east of Portland. Located at the crossroads of the spectacular Columbia River Gorge and the magnificent Cascade Range, Hood River County is a scenic wonderland of natural beauty in every season.

Sit back, relax and enjoy picturesque views of forests, orchards, vineyards and hills as you travel along the historic Mt Hood Railroad toward Mt Hood and Mt Adams. No matter what time of year, you’ll be treated to gorgeous scenery. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase on board.

When you arrive in Parkdale, a small community at the end of the railroad, hop off to walk around, enjoy your own pre-packed picnic lunch or simply walk around and take photos. Don't miss the Hutson Museum, an old barn-style building and prominent Parkdale landmark. Located on a 2-acre (1-hectare) National Historic Site, it offers awesome panoramic views of Mt Hood.

Then, hop back on the train for a relaxing return ride to Hood River. You’ll arrive around 2:15pm.

Coach Class
Coach Class features padded bench-style seating, tables and chair seating with window and aisle seats. Each table can accommodate four people. All cars have heating and restroom facilities, and some have air-conditioning.

Premium Seating/Lower Dome
Premium Seating in the Lower Dome features booth-style tables with large picture windows. Each table accommodates four people. This car has heating, air-conditioning and a restroom facility.

First Class/Upper Dome
In First Class in the Upper Dome, you'll sit twice as high as the rest of the train, with booth-style tables and dome-shaped windows for optimal panoramic viewing. This car has heating and air-conditioning, with a restroom located at the bottom of the stairs. Most tables accommodate four people.
