Alaska by Rail

Day 1: Anchorage

Arrival at Anchorage airport and transfer by hotel courtesy shuttle to your Anchorage hotel. Remainder of the day free for optional Anchorage activities and tours. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 2: Anchorage — Denali

The hotel courtesy shuttle will transfer you to Anchorage train station in time to board the 8.15am departure for Denali. Journey between the mountains of the spectacular Alaska and Talkeetna ranges on an incomparable sightseeing experience aboard the Alaska Railroad. Take in the wide-open scenery as you travel through the Matanuska Valley, a farming region known for mammoth vegetables, passing colorful towns like Wasilla, “Home
of the Iditarod”, along scenic rivers like the Susitna, which means “Mother River”, and across Hurricane Gulch, where the train slows to 5 miles per hour to cross over the trestle built over the creek 296 feet below. A dining car on the train offers food and refreshments and tour guides offer information about the points of interest en route. By late afternoon the train arrives in Denali National Park and the hotel shuttle will transfer you to your accommodation. A wide range of optional activities are available such as river rafting, helicopter flightseeing, or a jeep safari. Overnight at Denali Park.

Day 3: Denali — Fairbanks
Included Activity: Tundra Wilderness Tour 

Take a 7 hour Wildlife tour into the heart of Denali Park where caribou, moose, grizzly bears, wolves and Dall sheep are often seen. An experienced naturalist will provide an overview of the land and its wildlife. A snack box is included on the tour. Denali National Park offers a variety of optional activities from flightseeing to whitewater rafting trips Later, re-board the train for the 3.55pm departure to Fairbanks. Travel deeper into the Alaskan interior passing through the historic town of Nenana, and crossing the Mears Memorial Bridge, one of the largest single span railroad bridges in the United States. 8.00pm arrival in Fairbanks where the hotel shuttle bus awaits to transfer you to your hotel. Overnight in Fairbanks.
