Adventure Tour in St Thomas: Kayak, Hike and Snorkel

Explore a side of St Thomas seldom seen by visitors on a 3.5-hour Caribbean adventure! This kayak, hiking and snorkel tour takes you paddling to Perseverance Bay, followed by a forest hike to the forgotten ruins of a slave-era sugar mill located on a remote part of St Thomas. With an experienced guide, snorkel at a sheltered inlet over some of the island’s most unique coral reefs. Enjoy personal attention on this small-group tour, limited to 7 people.

Meet your guide at Brewers Bay, where you embark on a tandem sit-on-top ocean kayak over the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Leave behind the bustle of central St Thomas and head along the coastline toward the secluded west end of the island. Your guide ensures your safety as you paddle these durable and easily maneuvered boats.

Paddle your kayak past beautiful cliffs and rock faces, and glide over coral that are visible only a few feet below the clear blue-green water. Your guide takes you into Perseverance Bay, an undeveloped and uninhabited area that boasts the most pristine ecosystem on St Thomas. Pull your kayak ashore here on the rocky bank and follow your guide on foot, heading inland over almost entirely flat terrain.

Your 40-minute hike takes you past mangroves and salt ponds — home to the island’s most diverse wildlife. Keep an eye out for fiddler crabs, hermit crabs, white-tail deer and all manner of birds that abound. The island trail leads to the ruins a forgotten slave-era sugar mill. Marvel at the haunting beauty of the ruins, most of which have resisted the encroaching forest for decades. You’ll have the opportunity to explore many different points of interest at the historical mill for great photo ops before hiking back to your kayak.

During your return paddle, make a stop en route at a small inlet, where you’ll spend some time snorkeling among stunning coral formations unlike any found elsewhere around the island! Take a break for refreshments and snacks before continuing back to Brewers Bay, where your tour ends.
