We’ve got a night of jigs and reels, pipers and sword dances all lined up for you – and that’s just the entertainment. Welcome to Jamie’s Scottish Evening, which has been a fixture on the Edinburgh scene for three decades that, like a fine malt, gets better with each passing year.
This gala showcases the finest of traditional Scottish music, song and dance to the accompaniment of a traditional three-course Scottish meal. You’ll even be able to sample the famous haggis. Jamie’s more than just a show; it is a cultural lesson in Scottish history with compere Bill Torrance, one of the true ‘voices of Scotland’.
Jamie’s has always showcased the finest in traditional Scottish music, song and dance. Some of the leading artistes in their field will perform your Caledonian favourites. Enjoy an array of accordion jigs and reels, popular melodies such as the Flying Scotsman. Jamie’s Band will tap and clap their way into your heart while Jamie’s Pipe major will belt out haunting tunes such as Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace on his bagpipes. Jamie’s Dancers will present a Sword Dance and then you’ll see a live Ceremony of the Haggis – which is the traditional piping in, address and toast to the haggis set to the Address To A Haggis by Robert Burns, our national poet.
This emotional evening will conclude with the entire cast on stage, which will join you in singing Auld Lang Syne, Burns’ best-loved poem-song.
Meeting point: Please arrive at The King James Thistle Hotel at 6.45pm as dinner begins at 7pm. The show ends at about 9.50pm. The dinner includes a half-bottle of wine but not drinks ordered from the bar.
