From London, your Christmas Day tour heads first to Rochester, once home to one of England’s most famous authors, Charles Dickens. The author of A Christmas Carol lived at nearby Gads Hill Place and based some of his novels in Rochester. Your professional guide will lead you down Rochester’s picture-postcard Victorian high street and to the beautiful Rochester Castle overlooking the River Medway.
Then, you will travel to Canterbury, where you’ll attend the traditional Christmas service with the Archbishop at Canterbury Cathedral, famous for its stunning Gothic architecture and history that dates back to the year 1070. You’ll then enjoy a wonderful Christmas lunch in a long-established Canterbury pub and have some free time in Canterbury to explore on your own.
Finally, you will continue your tour to the British coast at Dover, where you’ll see the impressive White Cliffs of Dover. The cliffs are a symbol of Britain, facing continental Europe across the English Channel and acting as an emblematic guard.
