The park lies astride the Equator in the Albertine Rift Valley in south west Uganda, bordered by the Democratic Republic of Congo in the west. It is situated between two big lakes: Lake George (NE) and Lake Edward (SW), and the two lakes are joined by the 33 km long Kazinga channel which bisects the park.
