4-Night 'ANZAC Day' Experience in Gallipoli and Istanbul

Commemorate ANZAC Day 2014 in Gallipoli on a 4-night experience that includes 4-star hotel accommodation in Istanbul. Held on April 25, ANZAC Day marks the start of a brutal First World War campaign between the Ottoman Turks and the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps – hence the ANZAC acronym. Attend poignant memorial services including the famous ANZAC Dawn Service and visit significant battlegrounds like Anzac Cove. The experience also includes an arrival transfer plus an Istanbul city highlights tour and optional folklore evening.

ANZAC Day marks the date when Australian and New Zealand forces landed at Gallipoli – the peninsula on the European side of Turkey – with the aim of capturing Constantinople (now Istanbul) toward the end of WWI. The troops were met with a resistance, far fiercer than expected, from the Ottoman Turks and the battle dragged on for more than half a year, claiming thousands of lives.

The bloodshed had a profound impact on Australia and New Zealand, and the date of the invasion has since been marked as one of the countries’ most important national occasions.

Your 4-night tour includes accommodation in Istanbul around ANZAC Day, and includes excursions to the Gallipoli battlefields on Days 3 and 4 to see the memorials and attend the services that take place. A full-day city highlights tour of Istanbul is also included, so you’ll get to know the country’s cultural capital while in town.
