Sri Lanka Cultural High Light

Day 1   Arrival, meet, greet and transfer to Sigriya. Check- in at Sigirya Village. Rest of the day at leisure, Dinner and Overnight stay at Sigirya Village .

Day2Early mornings explore the Sigiriya rock fortress built by King Kashyapa (473-491AD) and see the remains of the palace and the famous frescoes which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. They are painted in earth pigments on plaster (epigraphically evidence refers to the existence of 500 portraits but only a very few remains today). ON completion return to hotel for late breakfast. After breakfast proceed to Polonnaruwa the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11^th and the 12^th centuries AD, see the ruins of the Royal Palace, ruins of the council hall, Lotus bath and the _Polonnaruwa statue. Also visit the Gal Vihara ( 3^rd splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures) carved out of a scarp of rock. Return to Sigirya Village for dinner and overnight stay.

Day3Aftert break fast leaning for the Nilaweli Beah in Trincomalee. Rest of the day atleisure.

Day4  Leisure on the Beach.

Day5After break fast leaving the hotel for the Minneriya National Park for the Jeep drive where famous for the wild Elephants. On completion check in at Pelwehera Village hotel for over night stay.

Day6After breakfast proceed to Kandy. En-route visit Dambulla Rock temple, Climb up to the rock temple, which was donated by king Walagambahu in the 1^st century BC to the Buddhist monks. Dambulla is a World Heritage is the most impressive of Sri Lanka ’s temples. These caves contain over 150 images of Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock spanning 14 meters also visit a spice garden & a house of Batik painters. Continue to Kandy. Check-in Hotel Topaz. In the afternoon do a city tour of kandy. Kandy was the largest capital in Sri Lankan Kings, and is a world heritage site. The name kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Drive around the kandy Lake built by the last king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts center and a gem museum and lapidary. In the evening visit the temple of tooth relic in the time for the “pooja” and also witness a cultural show. On the completion return to the hotel Topaz for dinner and over-night stay.

Day7 After breakfast visit the Peradeniya Botanical gardens. This Botanical garden was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by by the British. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers. On completion  Continue to Pinnawela and visit the elephant orphanage to see abandoned baby elephants being fed and trained. On completion proceed to plantation hotel in kitulgala and afternoon leisure.

Day8 After breakfast do the white water river rafting in the river kaleni where they filmed the famous movie, «The Bridge Over The River Kwai». On completion leave for the mountain capital of Sri lanka enroute visit a Tea factory,  checking at Galway forest Lodge in Nuwara Elia.

Day9 After breakfast Proceed to the beach hotel for the beach stay.
