Past & Present Lanzarote (Transfer included)

This half-day excursion will give you a completely different take on this beautiful island. We'll visit the agricultural museum at El Patio where you can see what life was like on one of Lanzarote's largest estates in the 19th Century. We'll also visit the stunning Casa Lagomar, designed by Cesar Manrique and once home to actor Omar Sharif. The trip will end with a visit to the island’s old capital, the charming town of Teguise.

The tour starts with a visit to El Patio, one of the island's oldest and largest agricultural estates. In this fascinating visit you will learn all about the cultivation of different crops such as fruit, cereals and tobacco as you stroll around the farm where you can admire the many traditional buildings including windmills and wine presses. El Patio is still a working farm where wine and goat's cheese are still made in the traditional way. You will have the chance to try some of our excellent produce in a traditional island cantina where you can also buy some to take home.

Next stop is Casa Lagomar, situated in a stunning location high up on a ridge of the Nazaret Volcano with breathtaking vistas down over the valley. This stunning building was originally designed by local artist Cesar Manrique in the 1970s for actor Omar Sharif. This unique house forms an organic whole with the volcano. You will be able to see the volcanic rock and lava in many of the rooms. The house itself is surrounded by oriental style gardens. Lose yourself in the maze of tunnels, steep stairways, caverns and secret passages. Visit the open air museum with its fascinating collections of painting and sculpture.

The trip will end with a guided tour around the sleepy town of Teguise, the historical capital of the island. You will also have the opportunity to visit the town's fascinating Museum of Piracy (admission at your own expense).
