The National Park at Cañadas del Teide is one place anyone visiting Tenerife should definitely not miss. Lonely volcanic moonscapes, fragrant forests and picturesque villages all await you on this one day tour. The 3718m high volcano dominates the whole island and we'll drive around its whole circumference enjoying breathtaking views on the way before we go down to the lush valley of La Orotava, the sophisticated resort of Puerto de La Cruz and Icod de los Vinos with its famous dragon tree.
As we climb you’ll be amazed at the changes in the landscape; plantations of semi-tropical fruit give way to fragrant pine and cedar forests before you reach a lunar landscape where the only inhabitants seem to be lava and rocks of all imaginable hues. We'll stop for a coffee at Vilaflor, the highest village in Spain and then head for the incredible Roques de Garcia, with stunning vistas up to the summit of the Teide itself.
After snaking through craters amid a desolate landscape we'll descend through a fragrant cedar forest heading for the charming old town of La Orotava where we'll go on a short guided tour. There'll be some free time for lunch in the resort town of Puerto de la Cruz and then as we start our journey back there's still loads to see. Don't miss the thousand year old dragon tree at Icod de los Vinos with its blood-red sap and magical properties. We'll also stop for you to take photos of the settlement of Garachico, once one of the most important ports on the island, partially destroyed by a volcanic eruption. An unforgettable day out for all the family.
