Visit two of the most beautiful towns in the Costa del Sol with this half-day trip to Frigiliana and Nerja. This fascinating guided tour can also take in as an optional extra the awe-inspiring natural wonder of the Caves of Nerja, which are believed to have been inhabited some 27,000 years ago by our prehistoric ancestors.
Nestling in a privileged location at the foothills of the rugged Sierra de Almijara and with fantastic views out on the Mediterranean, the traditional whitewashed pueblo of Frigiliana stands out in stark contrast between the red earth and blue sea. Admire the ruins of the former Moorish castle and wander winding cobbled streets that look much the same today as they would have 500 years ago. Check out the shops selling wares such as pottery, fruit, vegetables and the famous sweet wine – all typical products of this area, La Axarquia.
You also have the option to visit the world-famous caves of Nerja, admiring the massive stalactites and stalagmites that cram the almost 5km of galleries and chambers – some so large that they can host concerts.
Head to Nerja, perhaps the most beautiful coastal resort in Malaga and renowned for its beautiful beach coves. Stroll through the quaint whitewashed streets and soak in the atmosphere of this laid back town. All roads seem to make their way to the legendary Balcony of Europe.
