Jerez de la Frontera is known as the ‘cathedral of sherry’, with more than 20 bodegas producing a variety of brandies and fortified wines such the crisp, dry fino, the nutty amontillado, the salty manzanilla and dark, pungent oloroso. A visit is a must-do for aficionados. Learn all about the art of making sherry and enjoy tastings before continuing to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, which is located in the grounds of the stunning Palacio de Abrantes. Enjoy a spectacular show of ‘dancing ‘stallions’ and admire the master horsemanship of the Spanish Walk dressage.

Head to El Puerto de Santa Maria, a historic fishing harbour where you have free time to wander the old town and enjoy lunch before boarding a boat for the 40-minute cruise to Cadiz. (If you prefer, you can continue the journey by coach.) Once in Cadiz, the oldest continuously inhabited city in western Europe, you will enjoy a panoramic tour through the old town and other important areas.
