Climb this iconic mountain by rack railway enjoying spectacular views as you go, explore the Benedictine Abbey then in Barcelona discover the artistic legacy of Gaudi and Picasso and the Gothic jewel of Santa Maria del Mar.

First we’ll drive through rolling countryside towards the looming silhouette of the mountain of Montserrat, rising majestically to 1235 metres above sea level. Montserrat is a unique natural park containing one of the country's most important museums and the shrine of the patron saint of Catalonia. You'll visit the Royal Basilica, housing the Moreneta or Black Madonna, a 12th Century Romanesque carving. The Basilica has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Spain for centuries.

Then in the afternoon we will return to Barcelona. First is a guided tour of some of visionary architect Antoni Gaudi's most emblematic creations. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide we will visit Casa Mila and Casa Batllo on the Passeig de Gracia before heading for the Parc Guell, where architecture integrates seamlessly into nature. Next stop is the Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece and iconic landmark of the city. Finally, you will visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar, the only major completely finished Catalan Gothic Church. The tour ends near the Picasso Museum, which displays works of the famous painter from his Blue and Pink periods (entrance fee not included).
