Dive into the deep and discover a new world in the waters off Los Cabos with this beginner’s course in scuba diving in the Sea of Cortez.
This Unesco World Heritage Site is one of the most diverse habitats in the planet, with thousands of species to be found.
Among the locations that divers can visit are Pelican Rock, Land’s End, Neptune’s Finger, the sea lion colony, the north wall and the sand falls.
During this three-hour course, divers will swim next to tropical fish, eels, guitarfish and possibly stingrays and flying mobulas as well as see turtles.
The sand falls, which were discovered by famed marine explorer Jacques Cousteau, are a particularly fascinating natural phenomenon. They are about 30 metres below the surface and occur when sand gathers on a slope and eventually slides under its own weight, creating an effect similar to waterfalls. There are hundreds of species of life around the sand falls.
Pelican Rock, meanwhile, provides perfect visibility for divers and is an excellent site for beginners.
The sea lion colony also offers a fascinating insight as, despite the fearsome-sounding name and size, these creatures are very friendly and playful.
