CAVES OF DRACH

Come with us and explore one of the world's most impressive cave systems on this full-day excursion.

The Dragon Caves (Coves del Drac) are are four great caves situated on the castern coast of Mallorca, near the fishing village of Porto Cristo. The caves first were mentioned in 1338 but were not fully explored and mapped until 1880.

They consist of four great inter-connected caves, called the Black Cave, the White Cave, the Cave of Luis Salvador, and the Cave of the French, extending for almost 2,400 metres and including internal heights of 25 metres above the cave floor.

Hidden within the system is Martel Lake considered to be one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world, (177 metres long and 30 metres wide) on which there are daily performances of classical music featuring pieces by Caballero, Chopin and Offenbach. After the concert you can even get to take a short boat trip on the lake.

The unequalled beauty of the caves is further enhanced by the lightning planned and installed by the engineer Carlos Buigas in the 1930s.

Inside the caves filming and photography are prohibited . You are asked to follow the instructions of the staff at all times.

This full-day excursion includes hotel pick up and drop off, all transfers, the services of an English-speaking guide throughout. We will also stop at the pearl factory and a leather or jewellery shop on the way there or the way back.
