A wondrous place filled with colour and life, come experience the hustle and bustle of Singapore's Chinatown. With many of the traditional customs still practiced and visible today, this half day tour will stimulate your senses and allow you to experience life of the early Chinese immigrant from birth to marriage to death. Come journey through the customs of an opulent heritage.
For centuries, the strongly held traditions of China have been practiced and passed on to the newer generations. As a result, the traditions are still practiced in similar fashion in today's modern times. With the movement and emigration of the Chinese people, the vibrancy of their rich cultural traditions have spread along with them and they have established many new settlements, often referred to as Chinatown. The Chinese settlers in Singapore were no different. Come tour through the streets lined with paper lanterns and shops selling Chinese wares. Make your way through the town, and take the opportunity to learn about many of the customs of the people of both yesteryear and today. Get your fortune told by a fortune teller and get a brief teaching of the Yin and Yang of Chinese medicine. Learn why red umbrellas are carried at a wedding and paper mansions are burned at a funeral. Be sure to take in and enjoy all the sights and sounds throughout the busy streets.
Spend the day discovering the reasons behind the traditional practices of the Chinese as you explore their many customs, alive, thriving, and on display in Singapore's Chinatown.
