The unique architectural ensemble of XVIII-XX centuries. It is historical and cultural monument (architect J-B. Vallin de la Mothe). From 1830 till 1917 the owners of palace and surrounding estate were five generations of Yusupovs, the elite aristocratic dynasty.
The ceremonial chambers, art gallery halls, miniature home theater, and luxurious living quarters of Yusupov family remained in palace and now open to public. The palace has also passed in national history as place of Grigory Rasputin murder. The tragedy took place at night of 17 December 1916 at Prince (Knyaz’) Felix Yusupov’s quarter. Now historical and documentary exhibition is created in those rooms.
During our tour you will see living and ceremonial chambers of palace and hear fascinating story of Rasputin's death that made this palace more known and attractive to tourists. Some episodes of Rasputin’s death are presented in museum of waxworks.
The general plan includes transfers to museum and back. On the way to Yusupov Palace, our guide will introduce you other interest places in city centre of Saint-Petersburg.
