Let us take you back through a journey in time by visiting five Castles in the Centre of Portugal. These buildings helped to defend a country with a nine hundred year History.
The Castles bring back love and sacrifice tales where history and legends melt. They gave place to glorious and heroic moments. Build by kings, Noble men or Cavalry's will, these were places to defend and to attack, people's shelter, cult sites, Knights and Princesses, Kings and Queens homes.
Almourol was conquered to the moors and rebuilt by templars after 1171. Ourém was taken by Afonso 1st, who gave it to his daughter Teresa. Leiria was built after 1135 by the same King. Porto de Mós fell in 1148 and had Templar Knight Sir Fuas Roupinho as its master. Óbidos has been titled as the Queen's town.
