Knights Templar (Private Tour)

This is a journey on the trail of the Knights Templar, whose help played a decisive role in the conquest of Portugal from the Moors.

We start in Santarém, with an important geographical location to the Christian reconquest. Here we visit its castle with an overview on the vast farmlands of ribatejo and the Graça Church, where the discoverer of Brazil is buried, Pedro Alvares Cabral.

Continue to Almourol Castle, 12th century. One of the finest examples of medieval military architecture. A magical castle, surrounded by the river and valleys, which brings back the aura of mystery of the Knights Templar.

Discover Tomar, Templar town with its Castle and Convent of Christ, UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the 12th century. Here worked the headquarters of the Knights Templar in Portugal, thereafter known as the Knights of Christ.

Climb one of the most wonderful aqueducts Portugal, the Aqueduct Pegoes a magnificent work from the 17th century, 6 kms long.

Finally, visit the historic center of Tomar with a visit to its two Templar Churches and the Synagogue of Tomar, as the Jews were great allies of the Templars:
