Fátima, Nazaré, Alcobaça, Batalha and Óbidos private tour

● Experience this tour through the eyes of an expert/official Portuguese guide that goes with you inside the monuments and museums. Unlike many other suplliers, we don´t simply drive our visitors to the monuments and leave them outside. For that reason our tours have a  high cost–benefit ratio.

This is a private tour of the city with a official private travel guide/driver. No other customers will join the tour.

The program below is only a suggestion. All tours can be changed according to individual tastes and interests.

Program

We will start the day with a visit to Óbidos, a magnificent medieval town, which you will explore on foot, with your guide.

After Óbidos it will be time to go to Alcobaça* (option) to visit the famous12th century monastery. This monastery is not only a beautiful architectural example, but it has also the monuments in memory of King D. Pedro I and D. Inês de Castro (characters of a true romantic Portuguese story from the 14th century, very similar to «Romeu and Juliet») of magnificent stone handwork.

For the lunch break the fishing village of Nazaré will come as the perfect spot.

From Nazaré we will continue to the Monastery of Batalha*, (or Alcobaça as an option) the biggest example in Portugal of the late gothic Portuguese style, where we can find a mix of the gothic style with the Manuelino Art — symbol of the Portuguese maritime expansion.

Fátima and its Sanctuary, the site where Our Lady of Fátima appeared in 1917.

Note: This tour can be done in a reverse way.

Please bring your passport or ID along. Old-age pensioners over 65 receive a reduction on entry fees to museums and monuments.
