Several kilometres after leaving Lisbon and crossing the Tagus River on the Vasco de Gama suspension bridge, you will be entranced by a bucolic landscape dotted with cork trees, olive groves and vineyards. You will know you have arrived at the city of Évora when you see its old city walls and dazzling whitewashed houses.
