Off the Beaten Track Boracay

Get to know the local side of Boracay by escaping the tourist beaches in favour of local transportation, cooperatives, schools, and hidden beaches only locals know about.

Start your Boracay tour by travelling as the locals do, either by motorised trike or an open-sided van. You're on your way to Manoc Manoc, a local residential community in Boracay. Visit local community gathering places to really get a feel for the heart of the community, and walk to Manoc Manoc Beach to see the cargo boats unloading - an important part of life here.

From there, catch a pedalo (bike with sidecar) to the local school to take part in an English conversation lesson with the kids (if school is in session). 

Next on our Boracay tour is Bulabog Beach, a great spot to kick back with a coconut drink and a rice cake snack and watch kite surfers and windsurfers perform their tricks.

We'll continue on towards Mount Luho, passing high-end property developments on the island before arriving at the highest point of the mountain. Take in amazing views of Boracay from the viewing platform on Mount Luho.

Travel down the other side of the mountain to visit the Municipal Recycling Facility and learn how the island manages some of the impacts of tourism. The recycling program has been so successful that it has been replicated throughout the Philippines. See products made from recycled goods and learn how you can minimise your environmental impact while travelling.

From there, we head to Puka Shell Beach for a beach barbecue lunch and a refreshing swim. Fed and revitalised, we'll visit the Yapak Ladies Shell Cooperative where you can try your hand at making jewellery like the locals, and haggle on the street stalls for some of the best shell jewellery made in Boracay.

The final stop on our tour in Boracay is Diniwid Beach. Walk along the cliff path to Fridays Hotel on the aptly named White Beach and kick back and watch the waves with a smoothie or sunset cocktail. Perfect way to cap off a local tour in Boracay, don't you think?!
