Sipan and Museum

Your exploration begins at the Huaca Rajada archaeological complex This a set of enormous mud-brick truncated pyramids that are partially destroyed due to harsh weather conditions over many centuries. The site made it to the headlines in 1987 when a graverobbery at that location was reported to Walter Alva, then director of the BrĂ¼nning Museum in Lambayeque. The well executed protection plan ended with the discovery of the grave of the Lord of Sipan, one of the most impressive pre-Hispanic burials in the Americas. Visit the site museum for a complete understanding of the site before being transferred back to your hotel."
