Your tour begins with pickup from your Wellington hotel. Relax in air-conditioned comfort as your coach heads north of the city, circling Wellington's scenic harbor and taking you through the coastal countryside of the Lower Hutt Valley.

Travel through the gently rolling farming country of Pauatahanui before making your first stop at historic Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, where the final conflict between the Maori and British was fought in the 1840s. Take in views of snow-capped mountains from the hilltop site, then see more panoramic views from nearby Paekakariki Hill Summit. From this spectacular vantage point, you can see for miles over to Kapiti Island, across to the South Island and up the coast of New Zealand's North Island.

There's more history as your tour takes you to 1940s Camp Russel, where US marines were stationed during World War II. Returning to the North Island's west coast, head to the resort town of Paraparaumu to sample locally made treats. You'll also visit Paraparaumu's Southward Vintage Car Museum, whose collection of more than 400 rare automobiles includes such rarities as Marlene Dietrich's Cadillac and Chicago gangster Mickey Cohen's armor-plated limousine.

You'll also visit Rangiatea Historic Church in the town of Otaki on the Kapiti coast, see New Zealand's protected flightless kiwi bird at Nga Manu Nature Reserve, and enjoy lunch at a beach cafe.
