Come and discover Morocco you never even knew existed at Essaouira with its ancient walls, lively harbour, seagulls wheeling in the sky, a huge beach, its scented sea breeze, surrounded by incredible natural beauty. The attractive seaside town of Essaouira is located on a small rocky platform jutting out into the sea and was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001. Towards the end of the morning, you should not miss the colourful and lively spectacle of the fishing boats returning to port, their decks overflowing with crates packed with fish. One of Essaouira’s peculiarities is the grid pattern of its streets, which although narrow are much wider than normal for a Moroccan medina. Its endless beaches, battered by the incessant winds are highly valued and sought out by surfers and other lovers of water sports from all over the world. Then, in the afternoon you can enjoy a stroll along the ramparts and around the harbour which you will enter through an impressive neo-classical Gate. Another important attraction is the western defensive walls, where the city embraces the sea. Here you will discover the Skala de la Kasbah, leading to the interior of the medina, where you will find many small shops and stalls selling exquisitely worked handicrafts made from beautifully scented woods including Thuya, cedar and ebony. A full day tour that covers all parts of Essaouira.
