A walking tour

After a pick up, we will drive along la Corniche (central beach) and visit the eastside of the city. Then we will continue on through the Boulevard (ex. frensh section) where you can enjoy a nice view overlooking the port and the spanish coast in clear days. Then continue to Iberia and California residential area with nice and luwerious chalets, villas and palaces and heading to Spartel cape (a meeting point of the Atlantic with the mediterannean), then keep driving along the coast for a while and visit the mythical Hercules caves. After, we will drive the outskirts of the city and go to discover the traditional fece of Tanger starting our walking tour visiting the Kasbah (a fort built in the 15 th century) doing first Henri Matisse Schedule (during his 2 nd visit in 1912-1913) the famous french painter did some fabulous painting of several places of the Kasbah: Main gate, mosquee, marabout, and others… Then we will visit the archeological museum and continue to the medina walking through coloufull narrow streets and visit the fresh fruits and vegetables market, where you are going to see an interesting presentation of olives. After we will see gardens of the Mendoubia whith its 800 years old banion tree, see Saint-Andrews church and the sidi Bouabid berber market, the gran socco and more ending up having a mint tea in the petit socco (a little square where a lot of artists got part of their inspiration during their stay in Tangier like Paul Bowles, Williams Burroughs, Paul Morand, Pierre Loti, Van Dongen and many others….)

THE HIGHTLIGHTS OF TANGIER

Start the tour from the port, airport or pick up at the hotel. Drive first to Malabata cape (east Tangier) to enjoy a general view of the city and where you will see Europe in one side and Africa in an other, then continue trough the new city with its large Boulevards, then the residential area of Tangier with its luxerious villas and palaces till we’ll arrive to Spartel cape (west Tangier) considered as the extreme northwest point of Africa where will see the mixture of the atlantic with the mediterranean. Continue on to visit the caves of Hercules and after drive through the country side and a rural part of the town and go to discover the old face of the city, starting with the kasbah (old fortification) very popular for the artists (painters and novelists), visit the archeological museum (closed on tuesdays) and then walk through the colourfull streets of the medina (old and walled city) Mendoubia gardens, Saint-Andrews church, berber market of sidi Bouabid, the fruits and vegetables market and at the end Free Time in the market for shopping. Transfer to the port, airport or hotel and end of the service.

 THE GRAN TOUR OF TANGIER

Start from Tangier port, with Tangier outskirts by an air conditioned mini-bus, crossing the modern town with its large boulevards and then, a nice drive through rich areas of Tangier’s california section where you will see villas, palaces, including the Royal summer residence and homes of celebreties. Continue and stop at Spartel cape, see the lighthouse that marks the convergence of the Atlantic ocean and the Mediterrenean sea. Then a stop to take pictures of camels and if you like to experience a ride. Continue to visit Hercules caves (continually inhabited since the Neolithic period). We will drive then to discover the old face of Tangier, visiting and walking through the casbah and the medina, with a possibility of visiting the archeological museum (except on tuesdays), the american legation, the mendoubia (adminitrative building when Tangier was international city between 1923 till 1958) and the market with its colourfull narrow streets. Drive back to the port and end of the services showing the visitors Tangier: A city of diferent cultures.

COME WITH ME TO THE CASBAH

Arrive at the port of Tangier, we will be meeting you with a sign with your name, after assistance for the formalities, you will be transfered to start your tour showing you part of the new city. Our walking tour begins from the Casbah (15th century fortification) and a huge point of the medina (old city). You can see the snake charmers, the terrace overlooking the straight of Gibraltar, continue down through the labyrintine streets and alleyways of the medina through the spice berber markets and amongst the craftmen, visit the souks (markets), petit socco, gran socco, and mendoubia gardens and more…… A stop in typical moroccan restaurant for drinks or lunch extra.
