Learn about the customs and traditions of the Chiapas communities

Your transportation will take you to the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan where you will learn about the customs, typical clothes, rituals and traditions that inhabitants have preserved since Pre-Hispanic times.

At the church of San Juan Chamula you will witness healing rituals and prayers carried out in Tzotzil, the community’s native language. Once you are finished, the trip continues to the indigenous village of Zinacantan. Here you will visit a place where weaving artisan women will show you how they elaborate their textiles and waist looms. You will also have a chance to taste delicious handmade tortillas made on the wood oven of a typical indigenous kitchen. Afterward you will be taken back to San Cristobal. If your departure point was Tuxtla Gutierrez, then you will have time for lunch (not included) and have a chance to wander around the historical center.
