Kaunas is often called the cultural capital of Lithuania because in this city there are more than 30 museums... The city was founded in the 14th century at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian rivers - Nemunas and Neris. Rivers, hills and charming narrow streets of the medieval city create an extraordinary atmosphere here. Up to now, the city is famous thanks to the best basketball Lithuanian team «Zalgiris » and its explayer Arvydas Sabonis. The visitors always expect to visit the Museum of M.K. Churlionis, the best known Lithuanian painter and composer, and unique worldwide devil museum. And did you know that in the interwar period Kaunas was the temporary capital of Lithuania?..
