Wadi Rum, almost 265 kilometers from the city and 40 kilometers from Petra, where the movie Lawrence of Arabia and Red Planet was filmed is a uniquely shaped massive mountain that rose amongst the orsy red sand of the desert with towering cliffs of various brownish, reddish, and golden colors.

Rare species of animals, small plants and herbs can be found by the inquisitive traveler. Also found in the mountainous regions are herbal medicinal cures, used for centuries by the Bedouins. See the Ibex mountain goat along with many birds including vultures, buzzards and eagles.
