Walking through Ascoli

Welcome to Ascoli Piceno. We are going to visit together this amazing city located in the south part of Le Marche Region. Our walk will be very easy and relaxing, for a total duration of at least 3 hours. We will explain the secrets of Ascoli Piceno, the most important sites that you have to see in this town, known as the «100 towers city».

We are going to start in Arringo Square, the exact centre of Ascoli. This is one of the most important square in our city and here we'll immediately see the Cathedral, the Baptistry and take our maps in the touristic office. We will also see the Quintana headquarter..Don't know what is Quintana? It's a very historical event with horses and cavaliers. The whole city turns into a medieval location with ancient dresses and many historical appointments in July and August. We'll tell you something about the Quintana and then we'll go to the other main square of Ascoli, Piazza del Popolo or People Square, which is the political, religious and social headquarter. We'll see S. Francesco Church, we'll also enter the Captain's Palace, a very historical building and then we'll go towards the ancient theatre of Ascoli, we'll pass along the so called rue (very small streets) of our town and see other beautiful bulidings, such as S. Maria Intervineas, a very special church; we'll then get to Ventidio Basso Square seeing the wonderful SS. Vincenzo ed Anastasio church; we'll proceed towards the endo of downtownt seeing a magnificent ancient roman theatre and then we'll get back to People Square where we'll drink something and eat the famous ASCOLANE OLIVES!!
