Viterbo, City of The Popes . Tour Among Myths, Legends, History and Medieval Architectures

This tour will lead us through the historical centre of Viterbo, a charming medieval town whose origins date back to the Etruscans and which is known worldwide as City of the Popes. The tour will  start from Piazza del Plebiscito, where we'll visit the Town Hall palace, its XVII century terrace embellished with a fountain and some Etruscan sarcophagus and  some beautiful mannerist frescoes. We'll then move to piazza San Lorenzo to admire the elegant and famous lodge of the Popes and visit the Cathedral. Along the path we'll have the occasion to admire towers, fountains and to learn about the legends about the origins of the town and some historical events which made Viterbo be the protagonist of the Italian XIII century. Finally, we'll walk  trough the typical medieval area of San Pellegrino, with its building made of peperino rock, the profferli and the handicraft shops. During the tour we'll stop for a free tasting of typical Tuscia products.
