Spend a week visiting the undiscovered treasures in Apulia!
Day 1
Today you'll arrive in Conversano and spend the night at the Relais 4**** hotel. You have the day all to yourself.
Day 2
Waking up early, we depart for Putignano, where we'll have the chance to visit the Old Town and the workshops where Carnival massive floats are built. After the tour, there's a traditional lunch served in an idyllic farmhouse setting.
Once your body is full and happy, we'll head to Alberobello, where there is a chance to explore the lovely Polignano a Mare, a magically perched building on the side of the rocky limestone cliffs. Here there is also a wine tasting in trullo before having one of the best gelato in the region, at the Il Supermago del Gelo — the Super Magician of Ice-Cream!
Dinner tonight is in Conversano.
Day 3
The day is yours to explore. Dinner is served in the hotel.
Optional Full Day Excursion
If you'd like, we can arrange a visit to Bitonto to visit an oil mill. There is also the chance to stop at Trani, with its lovely cathedral, and Castel del Monte, the iconic octagonal Castle built by Frederick II in the 13th century.
Day 4
The morning is yours again before we depart for Grottaglie. Here, we can explore the lovely ceramic museum and small handicraft shops before transferring to Manduria. Here, there's a lovely tasting in a cellar and a visit to the museum of Primitivo wines.
Dinner tonight is at the hotel.
Day 5
Today is spent in what they listed as some the «most beautiful hamlets in Italy.» Here in Locorotondo and Cisternino, you'll have the chance to snap some pictures and explore the meticulously preserved historic center and beautiful Baroque architecture of this region. There is a spectacular palazzo to sit down in, and plenty of panoramic views to simply take your breath away.
After walking through town, we'll head to a nearby farmhouse for a capocollo tasting, which helps us to understand this «slow food» culture in the region.
Tonight we stay in Lecce, with dinner at an affiliated restaurant.
Day 6
After waking up late, we'll head to Lecce for a tour of the open air museum. There is plenty of exciting baroque palaces and elegant churches to explore here, and your guide makes sure you get a good sense of their place in time and history. We'll enjoy lunch today at a traditional Salento restaurant, with local food and wine to satisfy everyone.
After lunch, it's time to visit Acaya, the only intact example of a fortified city left in this region. Afterwards, we'll transfer to Otranto to visit the Italian gate to the East. Dinner is on your own tonight.
Day 7
Another free day for you to explore. Dinner is in the restaurant.
Optional Half Day Excursion
If you're feeling up for it, we can visit the Grecìa Salentina, with an interesting mix of Greek and Italian cultures. The language here has a particularly Greek sound to it, and the Old Town is striking with its Mother Church and the Ducale Palace. The afternoon trip takes us to Galatina for two more church visits before returning to the hotel with dinner at an affiliated restaurant.
Day 8
After breakfast it's time to bid adieu, and our shuttle bus will take you to the airport for your return home.
