This guided tour will give you a general overview of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. We will meet at the Piazza della Repubblica and proceed from there to the S. M. Novella Church, where we will find the oldest apothecary in Europe. The tour then continues through the city's medieval streets to Florence Cathedral, through the Piazza della Signoria with the imposing Palazzo Vecchio and through the courtyard of the Uffizi Gallery. The tour ends at the banks of the Arno River with a wonderful view of the Ponte Vecchio.
The Palazzo Vecchio has been the headquarters of the city's government for 700 years and is a symbol of the Florentine Republic. The most important artists of the 16th Century worked here, and their masterworks still make an impression on us today.
