Andrea, a young winemaker from Riomaggiore, follows the wine-growing traditions handed down over generations. Skillful and with sensitivity he combines modern methods with ancient equipment as the terra-cotta amphorae. The tasting consists of two different wines, a white DOC wine of the Cinque Terre and the famous Sciacchetrà, offering you a complete new gustatory experience — very natural wines, produced respecting the vineyard and the earth, without the use of chemical products, sulfites and yeasts. The results are intense wines which, through their scents and flavors, will transmit you the special characteristics of the place where they have grown — rocks, sea, herbs… These are authentic wines that symbolize both past and future – because this is the way the ancestors produced the wine in the past, but wines rich in history and character will impress the future too.
You will meet Andrea in the centre of Riomaggiore and together you’ll catch the bus that leads you to Montenero, above the village, where he will show you his vineyards. This is a special panoramic place from where you can admire all the Cinque Terre villages. After the visit you will come back to Riomaggiore and taste the wines in Andrea’s little wine cellar, situated close to the castle. During the explanation of his winemaking methods you will taste the 2 types of wine accompanied by typical Ligurian focaccia bread.
