STRESA is the pearl of the lake Maggiore.
Known throughout the world, Stresa enchants visitors with its gardens.
The lakeside promenade offers a wonderful show of flowers and colors of the landscape and the view stretches from the nearby Borromean Islands, the first mountains of Switzerland, the nineteenth-century villas and luxurious hotels in the Baroque and liberty style.
From Stresa you can take the cable car to the summit of Mottarone, which offers a breathtaking landscape.
THE ISLANDS
Isola Bella: is the most famous of the three islands, the magnificent baroque palace was built by Carlo III Borromeo and was the representative palace of the family. The 20 rooms of the building will impress you with their beauty and importance.
From the italian garden and terrace (at 37 meters on the lake level), you can admire the landscape at 360 degrees.
Mother Island — Isola Madre: you can admire a beautiful English garden, enriched by different botanical species and the famous camellias of the lake Maggiore. The Renaissance palace of the Borromeo family is furnished with antique furniture. Very interesting collection of puppets.
Fishermen’s Island is positioned between the Borromean Islands. It is an ancient medieval village still inhabited by a few families who engage in fishing. Very interesting is the church of San Vittore.
