BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR

Ring tour in the heart of Gran Paradiso National Park, which connects the two main shelters of Valsavarenche, Chabod  and Vittorio Emanuele II, points of support for the many climbers who annually climb the Gran Paradiso (4.061 m asl), only 4.000 entirely in Italian territory.

 8.00 am at the parking area in Praviou-Dessus (1.835 m asl)

DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR

The track stretches along the right bank of Valsavarenche, in the heart of theGran ParadisoNational Park. Departing from Praviou-dessus (1.830 m asl), the path climb up the wooded slope, and after about 2 h 30 min of walking is reached shelter Chabod (2.710 m asl) from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the north wall of the Gran Paradiso peak. The route then continues south through rocky fields and high pastures dominated by the overlying “Testa di Montcorvé” and finally reaches the refuge V. Emanuele II (2.719 m asl), resting place for the many climbers who annually climb the normal route of ascent of Gran Paradiso peak (4,061 m asl). Near the shelter we will take our lunch-break. Leaving the above-mentioned ref. V. Emanuele II, the route continues downhill along the route of the old royal hunting mule track built in the mid-nineteenth century to allow the “King V. Emanuele II” to carry out his hunting. After reaching thevillage ofPont (1.961 m above sea level), to return to the place of departure we will  follow a short stretch of SR 23 of Valsavarenche.

 PRICE

The fee is 130 € for the day, whatever the number of participants. Because it requires a good workout, the tour is only recommended for adults or children trained over the age of 10 years

 The tour can also be made by one participant, subject to participation fee, to be paid to the guide for the conduct

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

 Maximum 10 people

CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS RECOMMENDED

 spare shirts, pail or sweater, waterproof jacket, pants, trekking boots, wool hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, backpack trips (just a capacity of 25-30 liters) , drinks, lunch

Recommended: trekking poles, water bottle, camera

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER

In case bad weather we can visit the park visitor center in Dégioz, dedicated to predators,  and make a brief tour of the valley with a fee of 70 € for an half-day
