One day at the roman baths

Thermal baths were often mentioned by Latin writers and celebrated for their therapeutic and medical properties. Virgil talked about them in his Aeneid, Nero made thermal water flow into his Domus Aurea through the Aqueduct called Marcio and the emperor Hadrian used them to fill his several swimming pools in his Villa Adriana. August Cesar as well, who seemed to suffer from gout, benefited from sulphurous baths and made the architect M. Vipsanio Agrippa built huge thermal baths, whose ruins are still visible today. 

Albule waters are sulphurous and hypothermal waters. Their name is old and comes from the Latin adjective “albula” which means “clear /whitish water”. This particular colour is due to gas emulsions which are deposited on the surface of water after its decreasing pressure releases carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide.

Albule waters consist of four swimming pools with a global surface of 6000 squared meters.

Two of them especially suit for kids. The others, ideal for swimmers, have also rain showers for natural water massage.

Swimming in the Albule waters is good for your health both for physical exercise and for the beneficial effects of sulphur on the skin and on the respiratory system. This is due to its natural “humage” and its restoring and rebalancing properties for neurovegetative tone.

-          To shave at least 24 hrs before;

-          To avoid sun exposure before and after treatments;

-          for men: to shave at least 1 hr before face treatments;

-          not to wear jewellery in the sulphurous water;

-          for women: not to access wellness area and thermal cures during period.
