Michelangelo Tour

Michelangelo Buonarotti was the great genius who carved out of marble the statue he believed already existed and wished to be relinquished from the prison of its confinement; in other words he brought to life the David.  This tour starts with the Galleria dell’Accademia, where resides Michelangelo’s David, which has a powerful impact and gaze that leaves the viewer captivated.  Also, we will visit inside the Accademia Michelangelo’s prisoners, St. Matthew, and the Barberini  Pieta.  The tour concludes in the Medici Chapel in San Lorenzo, where Michelangelo’s architecture is very prominent, for example the New Sacristy.  We will see the parish church of San Lorenzo is filled mainly with commissions by the influential and affluent Medici family, and we wil visit Cappelle Medicee, a monument to the Medicis' artistic patronage. You will also admire the façade of the Medici Palace, where Michelangelo grew into the artist we now revere.
