Livorno Shore Excursion: Florence Segway Tour

While your ship is docked at Livorno Port see the sights of Florence on a Segway tour! When your cruise ship docks in port, head to Florence (transport at own expense) and then meet your guide for a Segway tour! Start with an orientation session to get familiar with your two-wheeled, electric, self-balancing Segway. Once you feel comfortable, put your audio headphones in, and then weave through the streets into the centro storico (Florence's historical center).

Glide past Palazzo Strozzi, an imposing palace created from rusticated stone, hearing stories from your audio guide about the Strozzis - a powerful Florence family - who once lived there during the Middle Ages. Stop for photos by Orsanmichele Church, and then travel through the streets to Piazza Duomo, passing the Basilica of San Lorenzo.

Weave around the crowds outside Florence Duomo, stopping in front of the magnificent cathedral to gaze skyward, admiring its distinctive orange dome. Learn about Brunelleschi - the Renaissance architect who designed it - and then pose for pictures in front of Giotto's Belltower and the Baptistry.

Glide to Piazza dell Repubblica to soak up the ambiance of Florence's bustling central square and admire the replica of Michelangelo's David that stands outside the Uffizi Gallery. Then, work your way past the Neo-Gothic Santa Croce church where the legendary Renaissance sculptor and painter is buried.

Enjoy one final stop at Piazza Mercato to visit Il Porcellino (Florence's bronze piglet statue), and then return to the start point where your tour finishes.
