This tour is dedicated to all those who have never visited the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important museums in the world.
The museum is housed into the 16th century U-shaped building situated in front of the river Arno, commissioned by Cosimo I de’ Medici to host the Offices of the Government; later his son Francesco decided to use the second floor of the palace to store the art works owned by the family.
This collection of masterpieces grew along the centuries and when the last member of the dynasty died in the 17th hundreds, all the family possessions were donated to city of Florence to be shown to the public.
During this visit you can see some and through the paintings of Giotto, Masaccio, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian and many other great masters of the past, you will understand the evolution of Florentine and Italian painting from the Middle ages to the Renaissance.
