A unique piece of medieval military architecture, Castel del Monte is a successful blend of elements from classical antiquity, the Islamic Orient and north European Cistercian Gothic; it’s a unique masterpiece of medieval military architecture, reflecting the humanism of its founder, Frederick II of Hohenstaufen, and has been included in the UNESCO Heritage World List on the basis of cultural criteria, and considering that the site is of outstanding universal value in its formal perfection and its harmonious blending of cultural elements from northern Europe, the Muslim world, and classical antiquity.
After the visit to the castle the journey will lead you to an authentic Mediterranean winery, where you’ll be able to learn the process of wine making and finally be delighted with an exquisite tasting of local wines and famous Apulian food like mozzarella, focaccia and taralli.

09.00: Arrival in Bari and meet-up with the guide.
Our first destination will lead us to the Basilica of Saint Nicolaus, one of the most revered and beloved saints all over the world, an important pilgrimage destination both for Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians from Eastern Europe.
Full guided visit of the site.
12.30: Lunch in a typical trattoria in the Old Town.
14.00: Transfer to the worldwide known site of Castel del Monte with full guided visit.
17.00: Transfer to a renowned winery for a visit and tasting of wines and local food produce.
19.00: Departure from the winery toward Bari.
