These are the most important highlights of our tour:
- The Piazza della Repubblica, the oldest and most modern square of the city where the old Forum of the Roman city of Florentia once stood and the historical cafés dating back to the XIXth century.
- The Mercato Nuovo, built in the mid XVI c. with its fountain of the Porcellino, one of Florence’s lucky charms.
- The Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in the city, built in the mid-XIV c. one of the most renowned symbols of the city with its jewelleries pending over river Arno.
- The Loggia of the Uffizi, originally the administration center of Cosimo I and one of the oldest and most famous museums in the world, thanks to its collection of Renaissance paintings.
- The political center of Florence: Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio, first government palace of the city with its grand tower, the Loggia dei Lanzi, an open air sculpture museum with its Roman and Renaissance sculptures.
- The religious center of Florence with the Romanesque Baptistery with its white and green marble covering, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the fourth cathedral of the city, Brunelleschi’s Dome, the masterpiece of one of the most important artists of the Renaissance and Giotto’s Belltower.
- A visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia which houses some of the most important works of Michelangelo in Florence: the original David, the Slaves and the St. Mathew. Also there’s a room dedicated to XV — XVI centrury Florentine painting, a section with medieval from the XIII and XIV centuries and a collection of musical instruments made for and used by the Medici family.
