Do as the Irish do with this fun-filled dancing and drum-playing experience in Dublin. As you practice a native dance and learn how to play a bodhrán - an Irish frame drum - a professional instructor will regale you with facts and stories about the historical significance of music and dancing in Ireland. You'll meet locals and gain deeper insight into Irish culture - all in one entertaining afternoon!
Your Irish dancing and drum-playing experience takes place at the Oliver St John Gogarty, a popular pub in Temple Bar, Dublin's entertainment and cultural district. Your afternoon of fun and entertainment starts as your dancing instructor teaches you the basic choreography of a lively Irish dance and tells you interesting facts about this piece of Irish heritage, including its importance to the present day.
Next, the drums come out! Your instructor will introduce you to the bodhrán (also called a bow-ron) and tell you about its history, which some think dates back to early Celtic pagan ceremonies. Listen to the vibrant sound of the bodhrán, and learn how to play it yourself to keep a high-energy beat for dancing!
For the grand finale, you and your fellow participants will jam together, creating a powerful rhythmic experience that will leave you with amazing memories and authentic knowledge of a true Irish custom.
