This trip begins in Yogyakarta where we spend the first days exploring the ancient Buddhist temples of Borobudur and the Hindu temples at Prambanan. They are both world class heritage sites and rank among the top destinations in Indonesia. We spend a day in Solo visiting the Sukuh Temple which is full of erotic ornaments and Candi Cetho a beautiful but lesser known temple which gives you an experience of solitude that you cant have at the popular sites near Yogyakarta. We leave Yogyakarta to Surabaya where we spend the day touring the city. The city is much less touristy then Yogyakarta and leaves you with a real feel of actual city life in Java. We leave Surabaya and head towards the smoking cauldron of Mt. Bromo a spectacular site that draws volcano enthusiasts world wide.

Day 1 - Arrive at Yogyakarta

Your tour guide will meet you at the airport in Yogyakarta. Depending on the time of arrival a city tour can be arranged the same day. Yogyakarta is well known for its museums and also Batik a beautiful traditional textile. Overnight in Hotel Santika.

Day 2 and 3 - Yogyakarta

We spend two exploring the ancient Buddhist temples of Borobudur and the Hindu temples at Prambanan. Overnight in Hotel Santika.

Day 4 - Yogyakarta to Solo

We leave Yogyakarta early and visit the lesser known temples of Sukuh and Candi Cetho in nearby Solo. If you have seen enough temples we can arrange separate trip to the local textile markets which are some of the biggest in the region or the museum near the site where the first Java man was found. Overnight in Sunan Hotel Solo..

Day 5 - Solo to Surabaya

We depart Solo early to return to Yogyakarta so we can catch a flight a morning flight to Surabaya via Lion Air. We spend the day touring Surabaya where possible sites include the traditional harbor, the old Chinese temple, Sunan Ample mosque and Heroes Monuments. We depart in the late afternoon and stay the night in the Bromo Cottages so we can get up early to watch the sunset over the Bromo Crater.

Day 6 - Bromo Volcano to Surabaya

We wake up at 3:30am and after a short tea and coffee we start towards the view point of Penanjakan (2.700 m). We can see the panorama over Bromo and Semeru the highest volcano in east Java spread out before us. We then proceed to make a short hike to the crater. It can be chilly in the morning so bring some warm clothes. We proceed in the afternoon back to Surabaya and overnight in the Novotel Surabaya Hotel (4 star).

Day 7 - Surbaya to Yogyakarta

Guests can either depart by air the next morning back to Yogyakarta or can depart directly from Surbaya to onward destinations such as Bali or Jakarta.
