4 Days Splendors of North Sumatra - Lake Toba

Day 1 — Arrival in Medan — Transfer to Lake Toba  

Upon arrival in Medan, you will be met by our professional tour guide and driven by private car to Samosir, a huge volcanic island located in the middle of Lake Toba. Lake Toba is one of the deepest and largest Crater Lake in the world. You will pass by the town of Siantar with vast views of palm oil and rubber plantation. In Siantar, try out the local specialty «Lemang» (made of glutinous rice and coconut milk, cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves in order to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo). Arriving in Parapat, you will be taking a ferry ride of 30 to 40 minutes to Samosir Island.

Day 2 Full Day Exploration of Samosir Island (B/L)        

Breakfast at the hotel.

After breakfast continue your trip by car together with our tour guide around the island of Samosir visiting Ambarita, where the remnant megalithic culture of Batak Toba lies in front of traditional houses. Proceed to Simanindo to see the traditional folk dance performed by villagers as well as children learning in school. Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant. On the way back to the hotel, visit the village of Tomok, where carved statues are standing, an ancient graveyard as a memorial to the Royal family of Sidabutar.

Day 3 Samosir to Brestagi (B/L)       

Breakfast at the hotel. On board the ferry you cross back to Parapat and drive the scenic road along the Lake Toba to the town of Brestagi. En route, stops are made to visit the ancient palace of Batak King Simalungun «Rumah Bolon», the amazing water fall Sipiso-Piso and Dokan a Karo village with a number of traditional houses still being used where eight families live together in each house. Upon arrival in Brestagi, visit the local fruit market. Try some of some grilled or steam corn. Proceed to your hotel and check-in.

Day 4 Brestagi to Medan (B)     

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast or at your convenience drive by car down hill passing by winding roads with lovely country side to Medan. We drop you at your Medan hotel or at the Medan airport where you continue your journey.
